Randy Doughty, owner and guide of Tightline Connection, has been fishing since he was 5 years old. While growing up, Randy had the opportunity to fish rivers in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and even the surf and backwaters of Florida. He has been hunting in Northwestern California's "B Zone" for the past 20 years. In addition Randy was the vice president of the Shasta-Trinity Fly Fishers in 2003, and the president in 2004.
Nick Doughty, who is also a partner and guide for Tightline Connection, followed in his fathers footsteps, and has been fishing the Trinity and Lower Sacramento since he was 4 years old. Considered a natural, with many years of his fathers instruction, Nick has taken the time to advance his skills. Both guides have put all of their knowledge and experience together for a combined experience of 64 years to perfect their fishing techniques.
Having proven his quality techniques, Randy has designed and developed his own Strike Indicators that work exceptionally better then any other on the market. Possessing 20 years of knowledge from fishing the Trinity and Lower Sacramento, he passed all of his expertise on the art and science of fly fishing down to his son.
Through their hard work as guides and fly fisherman both guides can now pass their knowledge to anyone who comes along for the rush! Both guides have taught many people, as well as other guides their unique, refined techniques. They enjoy teaching on the river and making those around them happy, by letting them experience the pride of catching their dream and feeling that tightline rush!
